How to Create …

Abstract Block Art.

You will need:

Paper, masking take, paint, paintbrushes and some water.

  1. Grab your paper. Now rip different lengths of masking tape and pale them randomly over you paper. These will create your shapes.

  2. Using different colours, paint inside your shapes - why not get creative and blend some colours, add some splats, swirls or dots as you do this.

  3. Once you are happy with the colours, let it dry slightly.

  4. Gently peel off your paper - be extra careful as this is when it can rip!

  5. Voila! You have revealed your masterpiece!

Watch this video to help guide you through the steps to create your abstract block art. Remember to make it yours!

Stone Art

You will need:

Stones (size doesn’t matter but try and find smooth stones and ones big enough to paint your design) paint, water and paintbrushes. (Optional pens)

  1. Grab your stone. Give it a wash and make sure there isn’t any dirt/sand/grit on it and make sure that it is dry. This will ensure your paint will stay on your stone.

  2. Paint on your design. It could be a landscape like a beach or forest. It could be an animal like a ladybird or butterfly. Or a car or motorbike. It could be absolutely anything!

  3. Now wait for it to dry.

  4. You have the option to leave it there and find somewhere to display or to make it really POP why not get a black pen and outline your design.

Straw Blowing Art - Creating Creatures

You will need:

Paper, straws, paint, paint brushes, water, pens (optional googily eyes and scissors)

  1. Grab you piece of paper, it may be helpful to make sure your paper doesn’t go anywhere whilst you are blowing your paint.

  2. Make some watery paint - just enough so that it have some movement.

  3. With your paintbrush, blob some paint on your paper and then with your straw start blowing the paint in different directions. Why not try adding 2 colours together?

  4. Repeat this over your paper until you are happy with the amount you have.

  5. Now it’s time to create our creatures! With your pen start by adding arms, legs, eyes etc. You can then get more adventurous and add spikes or perhaps even tails to your creatures. (If you have them you can add your googily eyes)

  6. Now you can either leave them like that or you could perhaps cut them out and place them around or play with your characters.

These are just a few ideas I have shared with you. If you think you have some other great ideas that you want to share with others, then leave a comment and other mums, dad, grans, grandads, step parents and everyone else can enjoy these with their children.
